Welcome Home - Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm, the Amarillo VA Health Care System will host the 9th Annual Welcome Home Celebration at the Rex Baxter building on the Tri-State Fairgrounds. (10/22/2015)

Michael Kilmer Named Acting Director of the Amarillo VA Health Care System - The Department of Veterans Affairs announced the appointment of Michael Kilmer as the new Acting Director of the Amarillo VA Health Care System. Kilmer will be responsible for the overall management of a medical care facility in Amarillo and four community-based outpatient clinics that provide primary care and mental health services to Veterans throughout Texas panhandle and parts of New Mexico and Oklahoma. VA Grants Will Expand Transportation in Texas Panhandle - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the White House Rural Council today announced the award of eleven grants, totaling $2,180,563.94, which will improve access to health care for Veterans living in highly rural areas. The Texas Veterans Commission has been awarded one of these grants which will help serve local Veterans in the Texas panhandle. (10/06/2014)

Mental Health Summit - On September 3, 2014 the Amarillo VA Health Care System will host a community Mental Health Summit at 6010 Amarillo Blvd West. The purpose of the Summit is to bring together key mental health stakeholders and mental health providers in the community with the goal of enhancing access to services for Veterans and their family members in the Amarillo area. Active Duty Service Members Now Eligible for Vet Center Counseling - Beginning in February 2014, active duty service members who served in a combat or war zone are able to get counseling at the Amarillo Vet Center. (03/03/2014)
